American Dynamics of Westford, Mass., tells Today’s System Integrator that its victor unified video management solution and VideoEdge network video recorder (NVR) have been selected by Dana-Farber Cancer Institutes as the organization’s security platform to manage security needs at its main campus and satellite treatment areas located throughout the greater Boston area.

Recognized as one of the world’s preeminent cancer research and treatment facilities, Dana-Farber will use the technology to oversee its two million square feet of clinical, research and administrative space. This will be managed from a new facility security operation center on the main campus.

Dana-Farber was looking for a seamless way to add NVRs and manage deployments of IP cameras including in its new 275,000 square foot Yawkey Center for Cancer Care, a 14-story research and clinical care facility. The American Dynamics’ system enables them to maximize their current investment and manage their entire video system through one intuitive interface.

“When planning for our security expansion, which included the Yawkey Center’s new IP camera deployment, it became clear that we needed a video management solution that could bridge the gap between new IP technology and leverage our significant analog video infrastructure,” says Ralph Nerette, manager, security for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. “Now, my dispatchers need to only be trained on one interface to manage the Institutes’ entire video security network whether analog or IP, megapixel or standard definition cameras. This allows us to bring new dispatchers up to speed very quickly.”

The solution was installed by Tesla Systems of Georgetown, Mass., and Team AVS of Westford, Mass.
