Telguard, a provider of wireless alarm communications, interactive and home automation services, announced at ISC West a new service plan for its HomeControl interactive solution currently available for 2GIG and DSC panels.

In announcing the new plan, Telular’s vice president of marketing and business development, Shawn Welsh, told SDM that the industry needs to make things more simple when it comes to pricing services. “The new entrants are bundling services — giving all the features they can give right off the bat to make customers more sticky. Removing the layering in pricing is a great start to allowing security dealers to be more competitive,” he said.

Telguard’s new HomeControl OneRate service plan replaces the previous, multi-tier pricing structure with a single flat price of $6.85 with no activation fees. The single, all-in-one price enables dealers to more effectively upsell interactive features and capture higher RMR, the company explained.

“In order to create the maximum stickiness in the shortest time with homeowners, competing service providers are bundling service offerings that lead with video and automation,” said Shawn Welsh, vice president of marketing and business development at Telular. “With the HomeControlOneRate service plan’s all-inclusive pricing, dealers can now meet or beat their competition feature for feature, while offering a better price regardless of a particular homeowner’s interest in remote arming, Z-Wave, video or all three. The industry’s a la carte pricing contracts and complexity will be a thing of the past,” Welsh conjectured.

Telguard’s HomeControl OneRate plan does not limit the number of sensors and Z-Wave devices installed with a system or charge a premium for live cameras. It allows the end user to control and respond to all of the sensors and Z-Wave devices available within the home.

The OneRate plan also makes video — a highly valued feature of any interactive solution, Telguard described — much simpler to sell. “With other interactive solutions, security dealers have to pay additional fees to include full motion cameras, and even more fees for additional video storage. The OneRate plan lets dealers leverage any of Telguard’s indoor and outdoor cameras, allowing them to add up to 10 full-motion cameras sharing 500MB of video storage per month to any system, for no additional charge,” Welsh described.

“Video is a primary driver of mass-market adoption of connected home technology,” said Paul Dawes, executive vice president and general manager of iControl Networks. “Telguard’s new pricing model makes both live and event-based video affordable for any security customer, and ensures that dealers have a leading solution in a highly competitive marketplace.”

Telguard’s HomeControl interactive solution, based on the iControl Connect™ software platform from iControl Networks, is available currently for the DSC IMPASSA and PowerSeries platforms, as well as the 2GIG Go!Control wireless control panel. HomeControl gives users the ability to remotely arm and disarm their security system, and offers Z-Wave control and integrated video, all through a solution that places the dealer’s brand first. HomeControl also offers the ability to tie into all of a security panel’s events, such as motion detectors and door sensor information. Welsh told SDM that future services and enhancements would be part of the flat rate.

Security dealers can activate the service directly with Telguard via Telguardonline.com or with Telguard’s participating central station resellers.
