ADT, Boca Raton, Fla., announced that the company will expand into the commercial security market as a result of the expiration of a prior non-compete agreement with Tyco Integrated Security, Boca Raton, Fla. The company can now provide service to businesses of any size, creating additional long-term growth opportunities, and ADT plans to expand its services due to the expansion of the size of square footage it can now access.  The agreement between Tyco had kept ADT from offering services to any business over 7500 square feet. ADT Business, previously known as ADT Small Business, which delivers an expanded portfolio of solutions that meet the evolving needs of small- and mid-sized businesses, will extend its reach.

Luis Orbegoso, president of ADT Business said, “We knew when the non-compete expired we would expand our current products and services that we offer to small businesses to larger ones.  It’s not a radical step for us, but it’s an important one.” He added that ADT knew when the non-compete expired it would expand, adding, “It’s an arbitrary description of a business.”

ADT’s small business customer base has grown to more than a half million customers. With the expansion of ADT Business, the company can now extend its industry leadership, expertise and innovations to even more businesses across the United States, including customers with larger premises and those requiring more advanced capabilities, such as fire monitoring.  “It’s not a radical step for us to reach out to larger vertical markets, including retail and food beverage, for example. What we offer to small businesses will work for larger ones. We have an advantage of knowing how to offer the best solutions to our customers,” Orbegoso added.

ADT will  expand its service offerings to mid-sized businesses with commercial solutions in the top U.S. commercial security markets including Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Detroit, the New York metropolitan area, Philadelphia, Phoenix, and Seattle/Tacoma, as well as the states of California, Florida, New Jersey and Texas.

ADT’s initial plans call for investing in the necessary resources and making further enhancements to its product portfolio in order to capture future growth opportunities in the mid-sized commercial market.  In addition to establishing the dedicated commercial sales organization serving these new markets, ADT’s existing sales organization will continue serving both current and prospective small business customers.

ADT’s commercial solution set includes enhanced intrusion and access control offerings; capabilities to monitor, inspect and service specific fire panels; and expanded video solutions. The enhanced product portfolio also includes existing solutions, such as cloud-based and local DVR CCTV recording and video surveillance, as well as ADT Pulse® Interactive Business Solutions. With ADT Pulse, business owners can have remote access, monitoring and control of their business, at any time, from anywhere, at the touch of a button on any Web-enabled device.
