The baseball theme of the Axis breakfast included a rare Fredrik Nilsson baseball card.

Clad in baseball jerseys, Fredrik Nilsson and Martin Gren of Axis Communications jogged to the front of the room to kick off the company’s breakfast yesterday morning.

What followed was a heavily baseball-themed presentation on what Axis has up its sleeve at ISC West 2015 – complete with Nilsson and Gren donning helmets (or hard hats, as Gren called them) and taking baseball bats to an Axis camera (the camera won). The moment was reminiscent of the company’s early days, when quality assurance involved taking a bat to cameras to test their versatility.

Via a continued baseball analogy, Nilsson and Gren discussed the innovations Axis is introducing at this year’s ISC West, including Zipstream technology, which is fully compatible with H.264 and can lower bandwidth and storage requirements by an average of 50 percent or more without reducing the level of detail in an image. On the camera side, Axis is rolling out the AXIS Q3709-PVE, a multi-sensor fixed come camera that is the first in the company’s new Q37 series.

Gren introduced two non-camera technologies the company is rolling out: an open standard network loudspeaker and a video door station. The C3003-E Network Horn Speaker is an easy-to-install outdoor loudspeaker that provides clear remote audio, making announcements possible from anywhere with network connectivity.  The A8004-VE Nework Video Door Station is an IP-based door station for two-way communication, HD video and remote entry control with an open interface for integration with various systems.
