Mission 500, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving the needs of children and the communities in crisis, is served by the security community at large with competitors within the industry coming together to serve needy children. At SIA Honors Night, a slide show and speech was delivered by Alan Forman, president and CEO, Altronix and advisory board member of Mission 500, who highlighted some milestones since this organization was launched in the security industry in 2007.

Those milestones include reaching the goal of 1,000 sponsored children and more than 50 individual child sponsors; visits to Mexico, India and Tanzania to participate in specific projects; securing ongoing child sponsorship programs with various security companies and over $400,000 of free media placement with leading security publications including SDM Magazine.

Mission 500’s new initiative is Show Orange and to participate, simply wear or carry something orange on any Friday, take a selfie and send it to Mission500 to be posted in their Facebook gallery. The organization also asks it to be shared with friends and colleagues on social media using the #ShowOrange hashtag to show extra support. There are also weekly drawings with a small gift given to a winner each week.
