The ADT Corporation, a provider of security and automation solutions for homes and businesses and No. 1 on the SDM 100, is kicking off its ADT Always Cares Annual Week of Service, which takes place from April 30 through May 7, by launching a new partnership with Habitat for Humanity.

Through a $100,000 contribution, the Habitat for Humanity partnership will bring together ADT employees to help build homes in Denver, Jacksonville, Fla. and Toronto. In addition to the Habitat for Humanity builds, ADT employees will volunteer 15,000 hours at 250 events in the U.S. and Canada over the week — all with the goal of improving the communities where ADT operates.

“At least 5,000 ADT team members and their families are expected to roll up their sleeves to paint, plant and perform thousands of tasks to help make a difference — all during a single week,” said Jerri DeVard, chief marketing officer of ADT. “Not only does the volunteerism benefit our neighborhoods, but it’s also a great employee engagement experience. From Alaska to Puerto Rico and from Hawaii to Newfoundland, ADT volunteers will be out in force.”

“We are delighted to have ADT join in our mission and partner with our Habitat families in building decent and affordable places they can call home,” said Larry Gluth, senior vice president of U.S. and Canada for Habitat for Humanity International. “Our partnership will transform these communities and help homeowners the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better futures for themselves and their families.”

In Florida, ADT’s home state, the company is working with Volunteer Florida, an agency for volunteerism and national service in the Sunshine State, to host a #BringABook service project. Throughout the month of April, ADT employees are helping to collect books at 18 ADT locations to give to elementary school and pre-kindergarten students in need.

“Volunteer Florida is proud to work with ADT to engage the company’s Florida employees in service across the state,” said Chester W. Spellman, CEO of Volunteer Florida. “ADT is an excellent corporate partner and we are excited to collaborate and expand Volunteer Florida’s signature #BringABook project statewide.”

Highlights of volunteer events at other locations include:

  • At the Care and Share Food Bank in Colorado Springs, ADT will sort and pack food for hungry families.
  • ADT volunteers in Oklahoma City will participate in “Litterblitz” to clean up trash and debris.
  • In Charlotte, N.C., ADT will work with the Council on Aging to help seniors mow lawns and rake leaves.
  • In partnership with Florence Fuller Child Development Center in Boca Raton, Fla., volunteers will help serve a pre-Mother’s Day meal and assist with a craft project for youngsters.
