Supreme Security Systems Inc., a New Jersey-based security company ranked 53 on the SDM 100, announced the acquisition of the accounts of Homeguard Alarm Systems Inc.

David Bitton, Supreme Security’s COO, explained that this acquisition marks a turning point for the company. “We were out of the acquisition game for a number of years,” he said. “Back in 2009 we had to let a large number of our sales staff and installation staff go; we were contracted in that regard for a number of years. We spent a lot of years focusing in on ourselves and on our own operations, improving efficiencies, costs and the way we run our operation, and we’ve gotten to the point now where we feel that we can bring on an acquisition and it wouldn’t kill us.”

Bitton said the opportunity was presented to them by the Davis Group, a merger and acquisition company. “We all looked at each other and said, ‘We shouldn’t have an issue being able to handle this,’ and so we did the Homeguard acquisition.”

Bitton went on to say that shortly after this acquisition, Supreme Security was presented with another acquisition, which closed on April 25. While he couldn’t release any details about the acquisition yet, he said the latest acquisition adds another 1,000 accounts. With the two acquisitions, Supreme Security Systems will have approximately 7,800 accounts.

“As the largest privately owned alarm company in the state of New Jersey, we look forward to providing Homeguard Alarm Systems customers with the same level of service and integrity that they have enjoyed from Homeguard Alarm,” said Supreme Security Systems’ President Robert Bitton. “On behalf of our many dedicated, highly skilled employees, we pledge the very best in providing for all your security needs.”

Linda Berbrick, president of Homeguard Alarm Systems Inc., said, “Supreme Security Systems Inc. has exceeded our hopes for a firm we could combine with to continue the tradition we have for excellent service. This is a merger of two professional companies which have a history of successfully working together. We hold similar values and philosophies for doing business, with an emphasis on honesty and integrity.”

Homeguard Alarm Systems customers will experience no interruption in their alarm monitoring service, and none of the changes associated with the transition will affect the operation of the alarm systems. Homeguard Alarm Systems customers can use the same passcode, cancel code and testing procedures they have in the past. Additionally, the Homeguard Alarm phone numbers can be used to contact Supreme.

As for Supreme Security, David Bitton sees a bright future. “This acquisition means we were able to do what we needed to do to stick around and be a company who could make acquisitions again. We have a great relationship with The PrivateBank from a funding standpoint, and we are looking to augment our own organic growth with acquired growth.”
