Editor's Choice: Altronix Brings out Network Power Solutions

Altronix made a long-awaited announcement of its entry into networked power solutions at ASIS 2009. New power solutions include:
  • PoE (Power over Ethernet) and PoN (Power over Network) power supplies for PoE compliant and conventional IP cameras;
  • cost-effective StrikeIt2 panic device power/controller for single-door applications;
  • UL listed 16-output rack mount power supplies with selectable 12VDC and/or 24VDC rated at 18 amps max; and
  • NAC power extenders that now meet UL 9th Edition.

Power over Network (PoN) is a term coined by Altronix to describe a new series of power supplies (pictured here) designed for IP cameras that are not PoE compliant. Until now, these cameras typically had to be installed using individual local power supplies. Altronix’s new PoN power supplies deliver low-voltage power to IP cameras over CAT5 cabling up to 100 meters. Altronix’s PoE products include both mid-span and end-point solutions over CAT5 cabling up to 100 meters. The StrikeIt2 panic device power controller is an economical solution for single-door applications. It operates one 24VDC panic hardware device with an auxiliary power output for peripherals such as a card reader, keypad, REX, PIR, timer or relay. The UL listed 16-output rack mount power supplies feature four groups of outputs selectable for 12VDC and/or 24VDC rated at 18 Amps max. Also from Altronix are NAC power extenders with UL 9th Edition listing for life safety systems. Four new models are available, offering installers a variety of choices to meet local codes and power requirements.
