NBFAA Promotes Coalition to Secure America

The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA), Irving, Texas, invites individuals to join the association in a Coalition to Secure America. The initial goal of the coalition is to support federal legislation recently introduced by Rep. Steven LaTourette (R-OH).

Entitled “Secure America’s Homes and Businesses Act,” the legislation, HR 3632, provides a tax deduction of up to $5,000 for residential taxpayers and $50,000 for commercial building owners for the purchase and professional installation of electronic premise security devices.

NBFAA’s Government Relations department worked closely with Rep. LaTourette on the HR 3632 legislation and recommended language to the congressman. This is one of several ongoing efforts undertaken this year as part of the association’s ramped-up lobbying efforts through a partnership with veteran lobbyist John Chwat, president of Chwat & Company Inc., Alexandria, Va.

This bill seeks to assist taxpayers, both businesses and individuals, in meeting the challenges of homeland security, as well as crime prevention by securing tax credit for professionally installed devices. To join the coalition, go to “Government Relations” in the Information Center at www.alarm.org.
