Sentry Security Completes Ninth Merger

Sentry Security, Wheeling, Ill., a Chicagoland provider of security solutions for homeowners, small businesses and large enterprises; recently completed a merger with Star Security Systems, Wood Dale, Ill. The combined company will operate from the Sentry Security offices in Wheeling, Ill. The Star Security Systems merger is the ninth merger that Sentry Security completed in the last six years.

Additionally, Sentry Security acquired select accounts from Levin Electronics, a Midlothian, Ill. security company. The two acquisitions represent more than a five percent increase in Sentry’s customer base.

“We are pleased to be able to bring Sentry Security’s high level of customer service and wide range of security products to Star Security Systems and Levin Electronics’ customers. Our new customers will benefit from our ability to customize their alarm systems and the expertise of our technicians, who also support commercial and enterprise-level security systems,” stated David Balestrery, chief executive officer, Sentry Security.

In 2009, Sentry Security was ranked number 96 in the SDM 100, a list of the 100 largest security companies nationwide. Adding in the additional business from completed mergers in 2010, Sentry Security is now number 87 on that list.

The acquisitions were financed using a new three-year revolving senior credit facility with CapitalSource Bank LLC. The new facility provides a significant increase of committed capital from the previous facility provided by CapitalSource, said the company.
