GE Enterprise Solutions president and CEO Charlene Begley announced yesterday that Dean Seavers has been named president and CEO of GE Security, a business unit of Enterprise Solutions focused on providing integrated advanced technology solutions for security and life safety. The appointment is effective September 1, 2007.
Seavers succeeds A. Louis Parker, who is moving to a new role leading strategic initiatives reporting to Lloyd Trotter, GE vice chairman and president and CEO of GE Industrial. Seavers joins GE Security from his most recent role as president of SimplexGrinnell.
 
“Dean is well-respected in the industry and has a proven record of success in driving growth,” Begley said. “His industry knowledge, coupled with his strong background in leading high-performing teams, will be a great asset as we continue to invest in our security business.”
 
Seavers’ background includes strong operations, branding and product planning expertise. He began his career at Ford Motor Company, where he was a member of the advertising and product planning groups. From 1990 to 1992, he served as operations manager – KFC National Management Company for PepsiCo. He then became managing director/co-owner for Flex-Tech Communications from 1992 to1996. Seavers’ next role was with Allied Domecq Retailing where he was manager, brand transformation. In 1999, he joined the Burger King Corp. as director, operations planning and strategy.
 
In 2000, Seavers moved into the fire and life safety industry with ADT. He joined ADT as regional vice president of operations. He was then promoted to senior vice president, operations for ADT Security Services from 2001 to 2004 and was named to his most recent role of president of SimplexGrinnell in 2004.
 
Seavers graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in business from Kent State University in Ohio and earned a master's degree in business administration from Stanford University in California. In 2001, the National Eagle Leadership Institute (NELI) presented Seavers with the Career Focus Eagle Award, its highest and most distinguished honor. The Institute places particular emphasis on leadership, the ability to triumph over adversity and a strong commitment to community.
 
Seavers will be located at the GE Security headquarters in Bradenton, Fla.
