ADI, Melville, N.Y., a security and low-voltage distributor, announced its parent, Honeywell, will acquire Gardiner Groupe Europe from Electra Partners Europe, a private equity firm, to strengthen ADI’s scope in security distribution throughout Europe. The company anticipates completing the transaction in the first half of 2006, subject to regulatory review. Gardiner Groupe Europe, based in Paris, France is a distributor of CCTV systems, fire alarm, intrusion alarm, access control, public address and integrated systems. It has 75 branch locations in 10 European countries.

XceedID Corp., Golden, Colo., entered a private-label OEM agreement with Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies. XceedID Corp.’s line of ISO-X multi-technology readers will be available under the Schlage brand name. XceedID Corp. also entered into a private-label OEM agreement with Lenel Systems International, Rochester, N.Y., a provider of software and integrated security management systems. ISO-X multi-technology readers will be available under the Lenel brand as the Lenel OpenCard Reader series.

Carroll

HID, manufacturer of contactless access control cards and readers for the security industry, announced a new position to proactively address the use of RFID and associated privacy concerns. The company recognizes that the use of RFID has expanded in both government and private industry, and privacy concerns have emerged. To address this, the company named Kathleen Carroll as director, government relations. Carroll will oversee HID’s RFID privacy initiatives. As part of her mandate, she will develop educational materials to help legislators gain a better understanding of RFID technology, its benefits and inherent security features. She also will contribute to the development and support of public policies that safeguard individuals’ privacy while fostering the responsible use of RFID technology.

ScanSource Security Distribution, Greenville, S.C., a sales unit of ScanSource Inc., added Ipix Corp., Reston, Va., a developer of visual intelligence technologies, to its line.

Ipix Corp.’s products offer continuous 360-degree field-of-view, allowing full coverage for visual security needs. ScanSource Security will be distributing Ipix’s video product line, including the CommandView cameras, which are used to monitor and protect high-risk environments.
