Netwatch USA, a remote visual monitoring company, announced its launch into the United States market with the opening of its offices in Boston, Mass on Feb. 21, 2012. Headquartered in Carlow, Ireland the company is investing more than $4 million in its expansion into North America and pledged to create 50 jobs over the next 18 months. Thirty jobs will be created between its Boston and Carlow operations by the end of 2012, bringing total employment to more than 120 people. Supporting the company’s expansion into the U.S. market is former Boston Police Commissioner and Netwatch board member, Kathleen O’Toole.

In the past three months, Netwatch successfully won a number of contracts in Greater Boston. The Massachusetts Port Authority, which operates Logan International Airport and the Port of Boston, is currently piloting its security system.

“As with all airports and major transportation ports, security is priority for MassPort,” said David Walsh, chief executive officer, Netwatch. “That they are willing to pilot the system speaks volumes for the integrity and quality of our company.”

Netwatch provides real-time remote security monitoring to businesses and private residences in the United States and across four continents. Intervention Specialists at the Netwatch Communications Hub direct operations through remote closed captioned TV (CCTV) monitoring and intervene as soon as a security is breached alerting the intruders to the fact that they are being watched and that the police have been informed. All monitoring of the U.S. sites will be undertaken by Intervention Specialists at Netwatch’s Irish headquarters in Carlow. As the business grows in the United States, the company will also establish a communications hub for North America in Boston.

Enterprise Ireland has worked closely with Netwatch since its establishment in 2003 to support its internationalization and export growth in North America and in the United Kingdom.

“We are delighted to see Netwatch announce the official opening of their U.S. office,” said Frank Ryan, chief executive officer, Enterprise Ireland. “We have seen the company grow continuously through innovation and a strong focus on customer service, led by an experienced and resourceful management team. We are delighted that the practical assistance of our network in the U.S. has helped Netwatch achieve growth in the U.S. leading to this important announcement and valuable job creation.”
