In 2007, the Electronic Security Association (ESA) received approval for ESA’s first standard, ANSI/ESA SRSS-01-2007, the Standard for Remote Supervising Station. This standard, developed by ESA, provided a guide for the monitoring of fire alarm systems at a remote station as identified in NFPA 72.
In compliance with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) requirements, all approved guidelines must undergo periodic review, and ESA’s standard began that review process on March 6, 2012. The first step in this review process is the solicitation of proposals from industry stakeholders for proposed changes, additions or modifications to the existing standard. During a one-month period, concluding at 5 p.m. CDT on April 6, 2012, ESA will be accepting these proposed changes to the standard.
