HID Global, a provider of secure identity solutions, has joined parent company ASSA ABLOY in reporting the environmental performance of its access control readers using internationally recognized environmental product declarations (EPDs). The company has released EPDs for most of its iCLASS SE door readers and many of its pivCLASS readers, providing a transparent view of the products’ sustainable qualities and environmental repercussions.
“As the first access control company to initiate EPD reporting for its products, we are providing customers with a new set of tools to educate their own environmentally-conscious customers while also adding new value to our Genuine HID solutions,” said Kevin Teehan, vice president of strategic services and chief compliance officer with HID Global. “We chose our award-winning, flagship iCLASS SE and pivCLASS door readers to launch this new initiative, and we plan to extend the practice to a broader range of products in the near future.”
