Feenics, Ottawa, Can., appointed Denis Hébert as president and equity partner, effective August 1, 2016. Hébert, currently the chairman of the board of the Security Industry Association, has an extensive career in security. He joins other team members at Feenics, including former systems integrator Sam Shalaby, CEO, and Paul DiPeso, executive vice president, with the goal of forging a fundamental shift of access control specifications to cloud-hosted platforms.

Hébert said his focus will be to further enable the successes Feenics has achieved in bringing cloud-hosted solutions to market in the systems integration and value-added reseller communities.

“I am excited to be part of this journey with Feenics, as the access control paradigm shifts to cloud computing, providing a wealth of new service offerings to systems integrators and their customers,” Hébert said. “In every industry there are evolutions, and the cloud alternative to access control is a significant transformation in physical access management.”

Sam Shalaby, CEO and founder of Feenics and a former systems integration company owner, said Hébert adds further depth of experience from the manufacturing side of the business and a strong network of industry connections to complement the company’s expansion goals.

“We are extremely excited to have Denis join the team and expedite the growth of Feenics,” Shalaby said. “He understands our go-to-market strategy and will join our day-to-day cadence as we continue to expand Keep [Feenics’ cloud-based access control platform] in the field. The combined experience of Feenics company management in systems integration and manufacturing will foster further expansion.”

Paul DiPeso, executive vice president, said Feenics welcomes Hébert’s depth of experience in access control technologies.

“Denis has a proven track record over his career and is well-respected within the security industry,” DiPeso said. “We are fortunate to be able to tap his wealth of experience, especially as we prepare to take Feenics to the next level. Having worked under his leadership in the past, what’s always impressed me has been his desire to have strong relationships at both the integrator and end-user level. That’s powerful.”
