Amherst Alarm, ranked No. 75 on the SDM 100, announced it has acquired Eastern States Sentinel Alarm Services of West Seneca, N.Y., stating the merger of the two companies’ operations will be effective immediately.

They will combine forces under the Amherst Alarm umbrella to bring the highest-quality residential and commercial security systems to local customers, Amherst said in a press release. The company said this new acquisition offers increased strength in technology and confirms the customer-centric service as second-to-none in New York. It will also increase their workforce by 12 employees, as Eastern States employees join Amherst Alarm, and will broaden their service area. The company will operate out of Amherst Alarm’s new headquarters, located at 2361 Wehrle Drive in Amherst, New York. The acquisition brings a combination of more than 8,000 retail and wholesale accounts to Amherst Alarm.

“Amherst Alarm is now in its 34th year of operations as a family-owned security systems company,” said Tim Creenan, CEO, Amherst Alarm Inc. “We have built a reputation for responsiveness and top-quality services, supported by state-of-the-art technology, to make our customers’ experience the best it can be. Acquiring Eastern States Sentinel Alarm Service, one of Western New York’s premier security companies not only complements our existing company operations, but their reputation for customer service excellence pairs perfectly with our mission.”

Nancy Saad, president, Eastern States Sentinel Alarm Services, said, “Amherst Alarm’s commitment to technology and all the conveniences this brings to customers will be an enormous new boost for our clients. Amherst Alarm was the ideal fit for both our clients and staff.

Creenan said the acquisition made sense for Amherst because both companies were essentially in the same market and have very similar product offerings and a very similar mix of customers between residential and commercial. “We are probably the two most parallel companies in the region in terms of structure and operating,” Creenan said.

This is Amherst’s 10th acquisition, and one of its biggest so far, Creenan described. “We are always looking for opportunities; this was something that made sense for both of us."

Amherst Alarm has been in business for more than three decades and currently has more than 70 people on staff.
