A new bill concerning fire alarm installation, monitoring and maintenance was proposed by the House of Representatives during the Illinois 97th General Assembly on Feb. 9, 2011. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Donald L. Moffitt, was moved from the Rules Committee to the Executive Committee on Feb. 15, bringing it one step closer to becoming law.

 The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) notified Johnson Controls, Milwaukee, Wisc., a provider of products, services and solutions that increase energy efficiency in buildings, that the U.S. Army Engineering and Support Center of Huntsville, Ala. has awarded an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to Johnson Controls Building Automation Systems, LLC. 

Tyco International Ltd., a Bermuda-based diversified company that provides security products and services, announced that it has reached an agreement with Oceania Capital Partners Limited of Sydney, Australia to acquire OCP's Signature Security Group for AUD $171 million. Tyco intends to combine Signature Security's Australian and New Zealand operations with its ADT Security business under the ADT name.
