ASIS booth 663 features technology to authenticate IDs using embedded tamperproof digital watermarks.

Card Scanning Solutions announces the Snapshell FDA Camera Scanner, which combines Card Scanning Solutions’ scanning and OCR technology with Digimarc’s IDMarc digital watermark reading technology to authenticate IDs using embedded tamperproof digital watermarks.

Digimarc IDMarc digital watermarking is a covert security feature found in over 60 million US driver’s licenses and IDs today, containing digital data woven into the artwork of the card that is imperceptible to the human eye. The data in the digital watermark is linked to other security features and images found on the ID so that when a card is altered, the link is broken.

The Snapshell FDA is equipped with special software that can quickly read IDMarc digital watermarks and determine if a card has been tampered with in any way, including swapping a photo or changing a birth date. The Snapshell FDA utilizes a 3 mega-pixel camera built into its base to “snap” high quality digital images of ID cards (up to 600 dpi), populating the card’s text into appropriate fields within 2-3 seconds while simultaneously authenticating the watermark.  www.card-reader.com
