New acquisition adds CCTV to security/access product menu.
The Home Technology Group of Nortek Inc., a consortium of home and commercial convenience and security electronics companies led by Linear LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nortek, has added a major new dimension to its security industry presence with the purchase of video surveillance specialists Aigis Mechtronics. Aigis, located in Winston-Salem, N.C., is a 20-year old company producing a complete line of CCTV equipment.

Linear’s chairman, Grant D. Rummell, stated: “We are excited about the addition of CCTV capability to our security products mix. Aigis will make us much more comprehensive and appealing in the marketplace.”

According to Aigis president and CEO Keith Todd: “Being part of a strong security industry leader assures us an opportunity for growth. We are an innovative and custom-solutions oriented manufacturer. To be that on a continuing, large-scale basis takes the kind of support and financial strength Linear can provide.”

Plans call for Aigis to continue at its Winston-Salem facility and to maintain and expand the Aigis brands.

The Aigis product line breaks down into three major categories: video capture (enclosures, integrated camera/housing packages, and pan/tilt/zoom mechanisms); video display (monitors, and flat screen CCTV, displays with built-in cameras); and engineered full-height security turnstiles.

The Linear Home Technology Group of Nortek currently includes 21 companies producing nationally recognized brands in such categories as stereo and home theater speakers and controls, distributed audio and video, lighting controls, personal emergency reporting systems, wireless security, structured wiring, automatic garage door openers, and Internet-connected media products.
