In the early morning hours of May 14, 2013, Sonitrol Audio Verification technology delivered real-time audio of a threatening situation at a customer’s protected storefront in Palmdale, Calif., to the Sonitrol central monitoring center, which allowed the L.A. Sheriff’s Office to apprehend two individuals at the location.

At approximately 3:08 a.m. on May 14, a Sonitrol audio monitoring specialist at the central monitoring station received real-time audio of crashing noises and movement from the Sonitrol audio sensor. The operator immediately dispatched the L.A. Sheriff’s Office to the scene, who determined upon arrival that a break-in was in progress and requested than a customer responder be notified to allow them access into the building. The Sonitrol operator reached the customer, who met the police at the location. Two individuals were apprehended, after attempting to gain entry via a roof AC panel.

Because the Sonitrol audio monitoring specialist was able to hear and verify the audio intrusion sounds and convey that information of the break-in in progress to the responding officers, they were able to arrest the suspects before escaping with any stolen property from the premises.
