Honeywell Security joined the PPVAR as a platinum associate member. The PPVAR was created to strengthen public/private partnerships with all the property crime stakeholder (law enforcement, insurance companies and the alarm industry) using monitored video verified alarms to fight crime and reduce insurance losses.

Scott Harkins, president of Honeywell Security Products Americas related, “As a leading supplier of burglar alarm systems, Honeywell is pleased that the PPVAR supports continued police response to all burglar alarms.  We also recognize that video verification is an important product category as we look to the future of security.  The PPVAR has done a good job promoting the benefits of monitored video alarms and has built partnerships that create value for our dealers.  Honeywell strongly believes in this initiative and we are committed to being a leader in the category.”

According to PPVAR, verified video alarms increase criminal apprehensions while reducing resources wasted on false alarms. While many jurisdictions have been forced to limit response to traditional burglar alarm signals, the PPVAR supports traditional police response to classic burglar alarms.  Through “insurance working groups” focused on loss concerns in specific vertical markets, the PPVAR is also creating and compiling “best practices” that will be included in educational resources and updated standards used by insurance loss control professionals.

PPVAR president Donald Young of Protection 1, stated, “We are pleased to have Honeywell join us to promote the value of verified alarms and priority response.  Honeywell will help us in our efforts to strengthen our partnerships with law enforcement using monitored video alarms as a mainstream solution.”
