The California Alarm Association (CAA) named Alan L. Pepper, a partner in Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp’s Corporate and Business Transactions practice group, as the 2007 recipient of the George A. Weinstock Award for lifetime achievement and service to the security industry. The Los Angeles law firm has provided integrated legal and business solutions for nearly 100 years.

The award, which will be formally presented to Pepper at the organization’s annual tribute dinner during the 2007 CAA winter convention in San Francisco in December, honors individuals for exceptional service to the security and alarm industry.

Pepper is a frequent speaker before security industry trade associations and was a principal author of the California Alarm Company Act. He also represented the Western Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (predecessors to the CAA) in several telephone rate cases, which resulted in millions of dollars in reduced private telephone line charges for the industry. Pepper also is the chairperson of the legal committee for the Central Station Alarm Association.

The George A. Weinstock Award was established in 1999 as the highest honor bestowed by the association. Past recipients include Lessing Gold, also of Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp.
