Accurately Calculate Screen Size and Design Video Systems With CEA and CEDIAs Newest Bulletin

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA)® and the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association’s (CEDIA) R10 Residential Systems committee announced the publication of CEA/CEDIA-CEB23: Home Theater Design. This industry bulletin provides guidelines to accurately calculate screen size and design systems for video devices, including HDTVs and 3DTVs. Following this bulletin allows manufacturers and electronic systems contractors (ESCs) to precisely measure screen size and design systems, maximizing the home theater viewing experience for consumers.

“CEA projects more than 31 million HDTV sets and more than 2 million 3DTVs will be sold in 2010. With increased consumer adoption of HD and 3DTV, accurate home theater design parameters are essential to provide consumers with a high-quality viewing experience,” said Brian Markwalter, vice president of research and standards for CEA. “This new bulletin provides valuable guidelines to manufacturers and the ESC industry, ultimately leading to maximum performance in home theater design for consumers.”

“CEB 23 is a recommended guideline that will enable the ESC community to design a high-performance home theater through accurate measurement of screen size and systems design,” said Dave Pedigo, CEDIA senior director of technology. “This bulletin, in addition to future documents CEA and CEDIA are working to create, provides information to assist ESCs in preparing for certification exams and will help to further advancement in home theater design.”

The recently published CEA/CEDIA-CEB23: Home Theater Design is available at www.IHS.com or by visiting the CEDIA Marketplace at www.CEDIA.org/marketplace.
