An alarm system certificate that security dealers could provide to their customers to indicate that they are being monitored by a Five-Diamond-certified central station is closer to finalization.
The certificate is designed to provide an additional level of competitiveness for dealers whose central stations have achieved the Five Diamond designation from the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA).
Five-Diamond status is awarded to a central station that is listed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and/or approved by Factory Mutual (FM), ETL or other organizations. Additionally, emergency personnel at Five-Diamond central stations have been trained and tested and completed all CSAA educational course work.
One long-range plan for Five-Diamond designation is to correlate end users’ losses between Five Diamond central stations and central stations without Five-Diamond certification. The goal would be to demonstrate a measurable savings in fire and theft losses by customers monitored by Five-Diamond-designated central stations so insurance companies could provide a discount to those customers.
