Custom Smart Cards Developed for Microsoft

Indala, San Jose, Calif., recently developed multi-technology, multi-application credentials for Microsoft employees, which enabled network (logical) as well as building (physical) access control. The project specified a new 128KB smart card module combined with a .NET operating system for smart cards and incorporated FlexEnterprise RFID technology.

The new Indala credential is an upgrade of the legacy Indala smart card. The new card is compatible with existing systems so service is not disrupted for the user.

Microsoft credential deployment takes place via decentralized identity offices. To issue a card, local ID verification and centralized certificate authorization must be approved. Identity officers are able to program the physical and logical access rights to the Indala card, providing the user with a single, secure credential for the workplace.
