The North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police (NCACP) awarded Glen Mowrey the 2008 Outstanding Service Award, announced the Security Industry Alarm Association (SIAC), Frisco, Texas. Candidates for the NCACP Outstanding Service Award must have made significant contributions to the association and to law enforcement as a whole. The award was presented at the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police annual conference in Ashville, N.C.

“Glen Mowrey is the first non-active chief of police to receive this award in our 32-year history,” stated fire chief Don Fisher, NCACP president. “Glen gives willingly of his time to help any law enforcement agency and is known nationwide for his many valuable efforts. This award could not have gone to a more deserving person.”

A retired Charlotte-Mecklenburg, N.C., deputy police chief, Mowrey was presented with the award primarily due to his collaboration between the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the NCACP. Mowrey has also been active with the NCACP, offering logistical support on nearly every conference over the last 20 years. 

Fisher concluded, “It is not just one thing that set Glen apart from the other nominees, but it was a combination of things. He never turns down an agency or a chief with a need or concern, and this award is well past due.”
