Online Tools and Training on CO Detection Requirements

Currently, 29 states have passed specific carbon monoxide (CO) detector legislation, and more are considering new legislation or updates to existing laws, according to St. Charles, Ill., based System Sensor. In addition, in 2009, NFPA 720 updated its requirements for CO detectors. System Sensor has developed several free online tools and training options to help engineers, dealers and installers stay up-to-date on the current state of CO detector codes and legislation.

“The CO detection landscape is constantly changing, so it can be very difficult to keep up. But knowing the codes and laws can be a big advantage for our customers,” said Richard Roberts, industry affairs manager for System Sensor and Honeywell Life Safety. “So we developed tools and training to help.”

To easily get the details of state CO laws, customers can use the interactive map at www.systemsensor.com/co/map/. Users simply click on a state for existing legislation and links to other important information. Users can also download and print a summary of state CO legislation at www.systemsensor.com/co/pdf/State-CO-Code-Summation.pdf.

For more free information on CO, the www.systemsensor.com/training site includes several options. For example, users can view an archived webinar, “Carbon Monoxide Detection: Code and Legislation Updates or take the Carbon Monoxide Online training module and quiz.”
