Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group, Irvine, Calif., announced a strategic partnership with Hartmann Controls Corp., Hartland, Wis., and the launch of a proprietary application programming interface (API) software module that links Toshiba Surveillix digital video recorders (DVR) and Hartmann Protector II door and elevator controllers, so that video viewing, recording, storage, search and playback become an integral part of access control operations.

“This new module merges video surveillance and access control – two related but distinct technologies – into a fully integrated, open architecture system,” said Sergio Collazo, national sales and marketing manager for Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group. “As a result, customers who install Toshiba DVRs and Hartmann controllers that feature the new module will have an instant network between the two for greater security of people, property and profits.”

The new module stores video data within the access control system that can be viewed live or later be recalled, searched and displayed. Event-activated stored video data, such as motion detection or contact closure, can also be logged into the access control database.
