Video Technology Partner Program Achieves Milestones

Pixim, a Mountain View, Calif.-based developer of video camera technology, hoped to mimic the success of computer component giant Intel’s “Intel Inside” campaign when it launched the Pixim Partner program a year ago. Today that program has more than 90 participants, including video camera manufacturers that use Pixim’s technology in their products, companies that market those cameras under their own brand and companies that make other video products, such as lenses or digital video recorders.

Pixim’s Digital Pixel System is a chipset that uses hundreds of thousands of pixels, which act like individual cameras that are constantly self-adjusting. The goal is to provide sharp images under a variety of lighting conditions. “We can see details regardless of the lighting,” explained Jennifer Martin, manager of worldwide channel programs for Pixim.

There is no charge to companies for participation in Pixim’s partner program, which strives to support and enhance sales of products based on the Digital Pixel System. “What we’ve done is, we’ve said, ‘We can help you with marketing and promotion and sell-through of your cameras because we’ll create a value message and help you use it in your product promotion,’” Martin commented. “The way we help is by training sales staff, partnering on end user opportunities and helping the end user understand the value of the solution.”

During its first year, the Pixim Partner program has provided training for thousands of people through on-site presentations and nearly bi-weekly seminars. Audience attendees have included end users, systems integrators, dealers, specifiers of security systems and technical and marketing teams from Pixim partner organizations.

Interest in Pixim has grown substantially, as evidenced by subscriptions to its monthly e-newsletter, whose mailing list has grown from 500 to more than 12,000 individuals — a 24-fold increase. In addition, hundreds of companies regularly access Pixim’s Partner Portal and its Resource Kit.
