NBFAA Seeks Comments on Daylight Savings Time Revision
The National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association’s (NBFAA), Irving Texas, strongly urges its members and Chartered State Associations (CSA) to provide comments to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) regarding the recently passed Congressional energy bill, Public Law 109-58.
The bill, which was signed into law by the President on Aug. 8, 2005, has the potential to have a significant adverse affect on security dealers because it changes Daylight Savings Time (DST) by four weeks. Under the new law, DST would begin on the second Sunday of March and end the first Sunday of November, beginning March 1, 2007. Due to this change, equipment that is time and date sensitive – and has incorporated the current DST dates – would require reprogramming.
