The EFL program sets a standard for builders to design homes that are more durable, comfortable, and energy efficient than conventional home design. Employing the principles of building science, the program prescribes a set of specifications for heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, ductwork and the outer shell, or “building envelope,” that encases a home’s living quarters.
