The two-day seminar, which was held Nov. 30 through Dec. 1 and titled “Hurricane Katrina – Lessons Learned,†featured leaders from industry, government and public safety sectors discussing their experiences responding to the hurricane. ARINC’s AWINS technology played a large part in restoring emergency communications for the New Orleans area after the storm.
While the company’s technology used during the hurricane was carried aboard a 45-foot mobile command and communications unit from Anne Arundel County and had the ability to connect 18 different types of radio systems at once, the company used a smaller AWINS system in a portable equipment case for the demonstration.
