They are all part of the lineup of keynote speakers for ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits, Sept. 19-22, 2011.
Jeb Bush, 43rd governor of the state of Florida, Vicente Fox, president of Mexico, and Burt Rutan, an entrepreneur and designer who’s recent projects include SpaceShipOne, the world’s first privately funded manned spacecraft, will each be speaking on a different day at the event.
On Tuesday, September 20th at 8:00 a.m., Bush will speak. Bush’s achievements include education reform, closing the achievement gap for Florida students; and tax cuts which helped Florida lead the nation in job growth. Co-author of Profiles in Character, a book profiling 14 of Florida’s civic heroes, he currently heads his own consulting business and is chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education.
Fox’s keynote remarks take place at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 21. Elected president of Mexico in 2000, Vicente Fox is credited with playing a vital role in Mexico’s democratization and with strengthening the country’s economy. During his tenure, Fox succeeded in controlling inflation and interest rates, and in achieving the lowest unemployment rate in all of Latin America. In his autobiography, Revolution of Hope, President Fox outlines his vision of hope for the future of the Americas and the role of business in the developing world.
Rutan will address attendees at the closing luncheon at 12:00 pm on Thursday, September 22. In 2004 Rutan made international headlines as the designer of SpaceShipOne, the world's first privately-built manned spacecraft to reach space, and as winner of the $10 million Ansari X Prize, the competition created to spur the development of affordable space tourism. “Manned space flight is not only for governments to do," says Rutan. “We proved it can be done by a small company operating with limited resources and a few dozen dedicated employees. The next 25 years will be a wild ride; one that history will note was done for everyone's benefit.” Named 2005 "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Inc. magazine and described by Newsweek as “the man responsible for more innovations in modern aviation than any living engineer,” Rutan is a bold entrepreneur and designer with the vision and passion for the advancement of technology.
