To combat the theft and vandalizing of fire extinguishers, Safety Technology International Inc. (STI) released its Fire Extinguisher Theft Stopper, a battery-operated alarm featuring a steel cable-operated switch mechanism. If a protected extinguisher is removed from its normal position, the device emits a piercing alarm at either 95 or 105 dB to draw attention to a potential theft. The device also includes a short cable that allows the alarm to be disabled to service the fire extinguisher.
