SIA to Present George Anderson, World Trade Center Security Director for the Port Authority of NY & NJ, With 2019 SIA Insightful Practitioner Award
The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named George W. Anderson as the 2019 recipient of the SIA Insightful Practitioner Award, an honor recognizing excellence in promoting the implementation of innovative security solutions. Anderson — who retired from the New York Police Department (NYPD) in 2011 after 30 years of service — is the director of World Trade Center security for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and serves as chair of the Private Sector Liaison Committee for the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). SIA will present the award to Anderson during SIA Honors Night on Wednesday, Nov. 20, in New York City.
“I am honored and beyond thrilled to have been chosen as this year’s recipient of the SIA Insightful Practitioner Award; the most important element of the award to me is the focus on teamwork,” Anderson said. “Although I am the recipient, the award really recognizes all of the teams I have been a part of over my 37 years in both the public and private sector. The challenges we face cannot be addressed alone — partnership and collaboration are the keys to success, and I am proud to be part of a profession and an industry that places so much value on those principles.”
