Bill Bozeman, CEO of PSA, wanted to make sure that any thermal camera offerings PSA was ready to make available to its members was up to snuff. “There are a lot of manufacturers out there right now with great security cameras, but they are just adding temperature response to it. We wanted a provider that had experience in the medical field and had a vetted background with years of experience and we found ICI (Infrared Cameras Inc.),” Bozeman tells SDM.

After unprecedented demand from PSA’s integrators for a thermal camera solution for COVID-response, Bozeman said the integrator consortium began looking at all the products out there to find the best solution that would not only work, but work well. “I was concerned, because we have a responsibility to make sure our integrators have the best products and this is more of a safety product. However, the physical security integrator has the technical skillset to deploy these products. So we went on a quest and ICI kept coming up,” Bozeman says.

ICI is an innovator in the infrared products space with a line of thermal cameras as well as multi-spectral infrared cameras and complete package systems. The technology provided by ICI is currently being used in businesses such as hospitals, airports, casinos, sports arenas, factories and more, and has been deployed in these settings for many years. ICI’s cameras are reported to be accurate to within a fraction (0.1 to 0.3 Celsius) of one degree Celsius. Another feature that sets these cameras apart is their FDA clearance on temperature screeners since 2008.

ICI cameras can be set up at entry points in all types of businesses to screen temperatures in less than two seconds. The temperature screenings allow users to identify anyone with an elevated temperature who might be potentially ill. PSA is also working on further integrations with the ICI product that PSA Security members can expect to hear about soon.
