HID Corp., Irvine, Calif., and GE's Security business have signed an agreement granting GE a worldwide, non-exclusive license for HID's proximity technology.

Although details of the license agreement for HID's intellectual property cannot be disclosed, GE will develop, manufacture and market access control reader products that are compatible with HID proximity cards.

"GE is adding HID proximity compatibility to its new multi-technology Transition reader line," stated George Martinez, director of product management for GE Security Engineered Systems. "This cooperative agreement symbolizes a bridging effort needed in the security industry to accelerate open technology adoption."
