Apollo Global Management of New York will purchase both Protection 1, Romeo, Ill., listed at No. 6 on the SDM 100, and ASG Security, Beltsville, Md., ranked No. 10 on the SDM 100.

Apollo Global Management has agreed to purchase Protection 1 and ASG Security.

Protection 1, Chicago, announced that it has been awarded a contract that gives USAA’s more than 10 million members’ access to security and life-safety solutions through its established partner programs. 

Protection 1, Chicago, announced its solar arm, Brite Energy, has launched in its first market, San Diego, Calif. 

 Protection 1 Security Solutions recently adopted the Automated Secure Alarm Protocol (ASAP) program offered through CSAA International.  

 Earlier this week, Reuters reported that the private equity firm GTCR LLC has plans to sell Protection 1, Romeoville, Ill., ranked No. 6 on the SDM 100 Report, for more than a reported $1.5 billion. This news set off speculation by other news outlets, with some saying the firm planned to take the privately held company back into the public sector by way of an Initial Public Offering (IPO), stating the reports to sell it were incorrect. Others stood by Reuters’ report of a pending sale.
