For many years SDM Magazine has published a series of articles called “The State of the Market.” Based on the foundation of our annual SDM Industry Forecast survey, which is conducted in November of the previous year, these articles are deep dives into the four main technology sectors in security: video surveillance, access control, intrusion/smart home, and fire.

These reports are typically spread out over 10 months. So far in 2025 SDM has published the Industry Forecast in January, video surveillance in February, access control in April, intrusion/smart home in June, and fire will be published in October.
