Dealer Provides Christmas-Inspired Gift

Thomas and Noelle Fowler, owners of 24-7 Security Inc., Yonkers, N.Y., offered a Christmas-inspired gift to New York residents in an effort to draw businesses and needy residents together.

The security company waived its $249 installation fee through Dec. 24, 2006 for residents buying any security system. Buyers pay a three-year, $39.99 monthly fee for the system, which protects up to three doors and includes a pet-immune motion detector, an 85-decibel siren and battery backup in case of power failure.

For each alarm purchased, 24-7 donated $100 in groceries and a $50 Target gift certificate to needy families. This year, the company contributed almost $15,000, said Thomas Fowler, in part due to contributions from Honeywell, Alarm Capital Alliance, Rapid Response, and private contributions from Robert Bass of Bass Home Electronics in Florida; Don Trask of NuWest Security in Texas; Nick Lawrence of 911 Alarm in California; and John Lewis of Home and Life Security in Connecticut.

The Fowlers have plans to run the event again in 2007, and will start as early as October. “Our goal for 2007 is to raise $100,000,” Fowler said. This year, the Fowlers plan to coordinate efforts with area churches, shelters and local businesses.

In addition, said Fowler, Don Trask of NuWest Security will plan a similar holiday drive in the Dallas area for 2007. “It’s never the wrong time to battle hunger,” Fowler commented.
