Builder Spotlight Creates Opportunity for New Approach to Product Presentation

Four hundred attendees packed the Fischer Homes’ Lifestyle Design Center, Fort Thomas, Ky., for an event hosted by Guardian Home Technologies.

The packed house was standing-room-only as Guardian Home Technologies took the stage. The setting was Fischer Homes’ 17,000 square-foot Lifestyle Design Center, Fort Thomas, Ky., which had been transformed Hollywood-style for one special autumn evening. The evening delivered a one-of-a-kind opportunity for Guardian to take a new approach as a structured wiring and security provider to present its products to 400 captivated prospects.

Fischer builds single-family homes, condominiums, town homes and patio homes in the Greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky regions. Guardian Home Technologies, the structured wiring division of Guardian Protection Services, Pittsburgh, Pa., is Fischer Homes’ technology partner and sole provider of structured wiring, whole-house audio, home theater, networking, security, surveillance and intercom products to its single-family homebuyers.

Joseph M. Colosimo, president of Guardian Protection Services and Guardian Home Technologies, calls the name of the winner of the Klipsch 5.1 surround-sound computer speaker system given away at the evening’s event.
Guardian, the showcased vendor for the evening, hosted the event. An LG 23-inch LCD TV and set of Klipsch 5.1 surround-sound computer speakers served as door prizes and everyone who attended received a Guardian charcoal metal Mag-lite.

The event was themed “Night at the Oscars” and Guardian literally rolled out a red carpet for prospects to enter the design center. In addition to previously installed, permanent Guardian product walls and eight Guardian-installed LG plasma screen TVs, Guardian outfitted the design center for just that evening with five 14-foot, floor-to-ceiling product signage displays, four additional plasma screen TVs, two of its 10-foot trade show displays, and multiple sets of Klipsch speakers.

Red carpet and a life-sized Oscar statue cutout welcomed guests to “Night at the Oscars” event at the Fischer Homes Deisgn Center, Fort Thomas, Ky.
Members of Guardian’s sales and management team wore tuxedos or elegant evening attire and many participated in the staged presentation. The goal of the presentation was to bridge the knowledge gap that exists between high-tech products and consumer end-users by incorporating a light script with Powerpoint slides, plus music and movie references.

By the end of the evening, two new Fischer homes were sold, dozens of questions posed to Guardian representatives, and serious interest expressed in Guardian home technology packages. Prospects who attended the event continued to seek out Guardian consultants two days later at the Cincinnati Kitchen & Bath Show to discuss what they had learned and enjoyed most.

Two trade show displays with Guardian’s home network products and information for attendees, were set up for the evening’s event.
Guardian Home Technologies is a division of Guardian Protection Services, which was established as part of the security industry in 1950. In 2005 Guardian Protection Services was ranked 10th in annual revenue among the SDM 100 security companies (SDM magazine, May 2005).
