Micro Key Software, Kissimmee, Fla., a provider of software solutions to the security alarm industry, announced a new corporate initiative “Go Green with Micro Key.” The initiative is an environmentally friendly awareness program to help conserve and preserve the earth’s natural resources.

“Micro Key has always been committed to environmental issues by encouraging paperless solutions. Our management and central station modules have always enabled users to preview on screen and produce electronic copies of all documents and reports. With our new Go Green initiative, we offer products that not only save the environment but actually save our customers money while helping to increase revenue,” stated Wayne Torrens, president of Micro Key Software.

To encourage customers to join in the program, the company will plant a tree in their name for each new module they purchase. “We have partnered with American Forests to do the planting in connection with the Coleman EcoProject and have already placed an order for our first 60 trees,” Torrens added.

In addition to the marketing initiative, Micro Key is making some environmentally friendly changes internally as well. “We are replacing all of our PC CRTs with flat panel monitors that use less energy and give off less heat. We are buying all of our employees compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) and reimbursing them for any additional CFL bulbs they purchase on their own. We’ve also stopped using Styrofoam and plastic in the office break rooms. I see this as a win-win for everyone,” Torrens said.
