George Risk Industries, Kimball, Neb., introduced the Water Mocassin, WM2600-10 (pictured), is a 2600 water sensor built into a 10-ft. mesh water strip sensor for perimeter or large area flood detecting. It is designed for basement floors, computer server rooms, water pipes, attics or anywhere water damage could occur. It features automatic reset and 12 VDC closed loop. Up to five 10-ft. extension probes can be used with the WM10-P. The WM10-P is a 10 ft. extension probe that can also be used with the 2600T, 2500T or 2826FS for wireless detection.
Applications could include computer room sub-floor areas, telephone equipment rooms, bathrooms, laundry rooms, any areas adjacent to a water storage tank or piping, as well as evaporative air conditioners, drip pans, overflows and/or drains. Using no mechanical parts, the GRI water sensors are triggered by a moisture bridge across the sensor contacts.
The 2600 closed loop sensors use an external power source to energize a built-in relay contact so battery power is not recommended. Used in a closed loop configuration, an alarm condition will occur when moisture is detected, or if power to the sensor is lost, and if the sensor should fail. The relay output can be wired directly to any alarm panel or can be used to actuate an external device, i.e. transmitter, annunciator, etc.
