Honeywell, Louisville, Ky., recently announced new radar capabilities for its line of Vindicator security systems used to protect high-profile locations such as large commercial properties, government facilities and military installations. Honeywell’s Vindicator customers will have access to SpotterRF’s series of Compact Surveillance Radar systems, which can be used to detect intruders along perimeters when traditional ground surveillance radar systems are not practical.

The devices — which weigh less than 4 pounds, use standard Ethernet cables and feature built-in Web servers — are highly effective in monitoring wide areas, Honeywell described. For example, these radars currently are used to protect infrastructure such bridges, dams, oil fields and even wildlife.

“Vindicator users need the highest level of security, and SpotterRF’s compact surveillance radar technology meets that goal with its ability to monitor expansive areas,” said Brian Holmes, director of Government Sales and Special Programs at Honeywell Vindicator. “These systems are proven to be effective in homeland security-type applications, which makes them a perfect fit with the Vindicator portfolio.”

Nearly 1,000 SpotterRF compact surveillance radars have been deployed across the world, the companies stated.
