For more than a decade, the security industry has aggressively pursued a goal to reduce false dispatches to burglar alarm systems. A very large part of this effort was the formation of Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC), which carries the banner for the industry. In fact, SIAC's narrow scope of operations has sometimes limited its activities to dispatch reduction.
When National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) changed its name to Electronic Security Association (ESA), we received some comments regarding the omission of the word “fire” in our new name. Were we excluding fire as an important part of the security industry?
