Milestone Systems introduced its newest cloud offering, Milestone Kite VSaaS, during MIPS 2022 in Minneapolis. The new offering complements XProtect on AWS and is billed as a simple, secure and scalable video management system (VMS) for small to medium-sized businesses, where XProtect on AWS is optimized for the enterprise market. 

Milestone Kite, powered by the Arcules Cloud platform, is a simple to install, secure with automatic updates, scalable, cost-effective, and maintenance-free cloud solution, according to an announcement. It is geared for single or distributed multisite organizations that need an easy way to centrally manage all their sites in one unified system. Potential end customers include banks, retail chains, schools, residential buildings, among others. 

Kite automatically integrates access control data with incoming video data to enable access-based video verification, view camera feeds and obtain immediate situational awareness, said Andreas Pettersson, CEO of Arcules.

Among other feature sets, Kite delivers continuous security updates and global backup to guard against cyber threats. It has built-in people and vehicle detection, heat maps and forensic search turning the video into intelligent data to improve security and increase operational efficiency.
