ABLOY, part of ASSA ABLOY Group, has redefined its brand, focusing on the value it brings to customers around the world. As the culmination of a year-long process, ABLOY’s brand cornerstones highlight more trust, safety and security across the world: providing premium experience, fostering a stronger community, acting as trusted advisors and being responsible by nature.
Two recent cases show how ABLOY solutions are created in collaboration to produce end results that are better for the people and the planet.
Trusted Advisors: Elevating Finland’s National Treasure’s Security
Daily, over 250,000 people cross paths with the iconic Finnish landmark, the Helsinki Central Railway station. Being in continuous use for over a century, the building recently went under multiple renovations, including updating the locking system. This renovation not only preserves a piece of Helsinki’s history but also ensures the safety of its residents and visitors.
“The central railway station is a site of significant cultural and historical value,” said Jani Jääskeläinen, project manager at Helsinki Central Railway Station. “All renovations followed strict regulations set by the Finnish Heritage Agency. Here the retrofit feature of the ABLOY PULSE system was extremely important, as it allowed the locking system to be updated by simply replacing the lock cylinder, preserving the original appearance of the doors.”
The system can also create individual access rights, which means that all locks work with a single key, making access control easier for different office spaces, restaurants, cafés and stores operating inside the station’s mall-like environment.

In Croatia, waste management follows a Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) scheme. People are charged fees according to the amount of mixed waste disposed to the waste management system: the more you recycle and separate your waste, the less you pay. Croatian company Eol-Ekos sought a secure solution that could effectively manage waste container access, encourage recycling, and provide detailed usage data.
“The partnership between Eol-Ekos and Abloy Oy stands as a model, as cities worldwide seek smarter, more sustainable solutions, enhancing security and promoting sustainability, the collaboration is more than just waste management; it’s about building cities ready for the future,” said Johanna Varis, head of marketing and segment development at Abloy.
At the heart of the transformation is Abloy’s PROTEC2 CLIQ, an advanced access solution integrated with PAYT devices. It gives municipalities a complete audit trail and detailed information on waste container usage, eliminating the need for complex wiring, reducing maintenance costs, and simplifying management.
