SDM recently learned of the passing of Art Niedosik, former SDM associate publisher and Eastern regional manager, who died on June 28, 2025, at the age of 74. Niedosik retired from SDM in 2011 after a 40-year career in business-to-business media. 

Niedosik joined SDM in 2004 and was instrumental in growing sales in his region over 80% during his tenure. 

Chris Ward, media strategist for SDM and SECURITY Magazines, worked with him closely during his time at the magazine.

“Art was an excellent sales rep in the B2B media space who was loved and respected by both his clients and the SDM team,” Ward said. “He was always gracious with his time, assisting me with my transition to BNP Media from a competitor back in 2008 and was always kind to invite team members to client dinners where we shared a mutual customer that invested in both SDM and SECURITY.” 

Ward recalls Niedosik was always quick with a joke and had a tremendous passion for his beloved Philadelphia Eagles.  

Jackie Bean, SDM’s current associate publisher, also remembers Niedosik fondly. “I had the pleasure of working with Art for a few years when I started at SDM. He had a big personality with a warm and welcoming spirit. He was the kind of guy who would run into an old friend everywhere he went.”

“I knew from when he first joined our team that Art Niedosik was exceptional. It didn’t take long for his wisdom, integrity and deep respect for others to resonate throughout our entire team at SDM & SECURITY. His success as a media sales manager could be credited to many qualities, but I believe it was his long-term perspective, genuine kindness towards everyone he met, and his great listening skills that earned people’s trust and made them want to do business with him,” Laura Stepanek, former editor of SDM, said. “Art was someone I continually learned from and always enjoyed spending time with — especially when we just talked as friends. He had a natural gift for making people feel comfortable and seen. He retired from SDM & SECURITY in 2011, a year after his beloved wife, Jayne, passed away. Art was deeply missed then, and will be even more so now.”
