The SAFE Alliance Strengthens Security & Safeguards Privacy With Genetec

The SAFE Alliance, a Central Texas nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of violence and abuse, has deployed Genetec Security Center to unify and modernize its security operations. The new platform is helping SAFE address daily security challenges, operate more efficiently with limited resources, and provide a safer environment for survivors, staff, and volunteers.

SAFE provides shelter, housing, support services, and prevention programs to over 6,000 survivors each year in the nonprofit’s facilities, which span 22 buildings across four campuses. With this responsibility comes the need to ensure strict access control, reliable video coverage, and client privacy.

Since adopting Security Center, SAFE has seen meaningful improvements:

  • Improved access management makes it easier for staff to control who can and cannot enter sensitive areas.
  • With high-definition cameras, motion detection, and real-time monitoring, SAFE can keep a close eye on all entry points and critical areas.
  • By linking video with access logs, staff can easily review what happened, identify vulnerabilities, and take corrective action.
  • Staff are now more aware of best practices, such as preventing tailgating and ensuring doors remain secured.
  • End-to-end encryption and role-based access controls ensure that sensitive client and staff information remains secure and confidential.

The solution also helps SAFE stretch limited resources. Staff can monitor multiple campuses from a single location, while mobile tools allow team members to check cameras and alarms while on patrol or away from the desk.

SAFE currently uses Security Center to manage 137 cameras, 72 access points, and 11 intercoms across its campuses, with three new buildings under construction. The open, scalable architecture of Security Center allows the organization to add new capabilities, refine its processes, and find new ways to strengthen its security posture.

“Our top priority is creating a safe, stable, and healing environment where our clients can get back on their feet and thrive,” said Jay Gossett, chief operations officer, The SAFE Alliance. “With Security Center, we’ve been able to unify video, access control, intercoms, alarms, and reports into one centralized solution. And as we grow, we know our security platform will grow with us, giving us peace of mind and allowing us to focus on helping survivors heal.”
